A report by VoucherCodes.co.uk has suggested that one in ten children worry often about their family having enough money.
The survey of more than 1,000 children across the UK also found that 29% of children say their parents talk to them about their pocket money and how the family should spend money in comparison to only 14% who claim their parents never talk to them about family finances.
The survey also aimed to discover how children measured financial success, with almost 40% believing that being able to afford to go on holiday at least once a year was the best indicator.
Surprisingly only 25% of the children questioned believed that being debt-free was a symbol of prosperity.
DebtAware Education Manager Brian Souter said;
“These answers show that children are well aware of their financial landscape. I would definitely encourage families to talk about money and budgeting with their children to prepare them for adult life.”
