The DebtAware Money Management Programme has now reached Glasgow. Five Primary Schools underwent the training for the delivery of Module 1 to their Year 6 and 7 classes. Riverside Primary School in Govan kindly hosted the training and they were joined by four other schools; St Saviour’s, Lorne Park, Mosspark and Pirie Park Primary Schools. The photograph shows St Saviour’s Money Mentors discussing their lesson delivery plans after they had completed the training.
Each school sent 8 pupils to be trained as Money Mentors along with a member of the teaching staff. The pupils were excellent, very enthusiastic and very keen to become trained Money Mentors. They will deliver Module 1 to Years 6 and 7 over the next two months and the next training session will take place in early November.
“Michelle Parker, Depute Headteacher at Riverside Primary School in Glasgow, who hosted the money mentor training, said that the children from the five schools, who received the training, were extremely enthusiastic and interested in the topic. They are eagerly looking forward to when they can support the teacher in delivering the module to their class over the course of the next few weeks. We are delighted to be able to take part in the DebtAware Money Management Programme, as the ability to manage money in a sound and sensible manner is an essential life skill.”
